
The People’s Law School
The People’s Law School is a public education program sponsored by the Consumer Lawyers of Hawai'i to educate the public about our legal system, their rights and responsibilities. Classes are offered across the state to help our community better understand the law and their legal rights under our system of justice. Each week a local attorney will teach on a legal subject of importance
Each teacher is a prominent lawyer practicing in the State of Hawai'i. The People’s Law School is intended to give practical and useful information and helping Hawai'i’s people understand their rights. Classes are taught in plain English so it's easy to understand. There are no tests, papers or homework assignments given. Students are encouraged to participate in the class, make comments and ask questions.
Subjects may include: The Court system...Criminal law...Family law ... Insurance law...Landlord/Tenant law...Personal Injury law...Real Estate law...Business law...Wills & Estates law...How to Hire a Lawyer and more.
Classes are held at local Adult Community Schools, Community Colleges and other venues throughout Hawai'i. The cost is only $5.00 for the complete 7 week session. Pre-registration is required to attend The People’s Law School and courses are offered in the spring and fall.
At the conclusion of the course, students who have completed five or more classes will be presented with a certificate acknowledging graduation from The People’s Law School.
